Protože jsem nikde nenašel prázdné CD, instaloval jsem Debian Sarge na Ultru 10 ze sítě, zde popíšu postup jak na to.
Pro instalaci ze sítě potřebujeme další počítač, který nám bude dělat boot server. Použil jsem notebook s nainstalovanou Fedorou Core 5.
Potřebný SW na instalačním serveru:
dhcp

, pro ladění se hodí i klient - balíček tftp

Stáhněte si instalátor.

Nahoďte xinetd a dhcp server a otestujte jestli je přes tftp dostupný soubor s instalátorem. K testu je vhodné použít program tftp:

Nyní můžeme přistoupit k vlastní instalaci. Ultru nastartujte (pokud hned bootuje do OS, stiskněte STOP+A, více v článku OpenBoot Prompt) do OBP a nabootujte ze sítě:
boot net:dhcp
Pokud stroj ze sítě nenabootuje, mrkněte se na síť například pomocí programu tcpdump ať vidíte, jestli se vůbec ptá po IP adrese a podobně...
Pokud instalujete systém na sparče poprvé, tak mám pro vás pár poznámek. Bootloader se jmenuje SILO, umí toho trochu víc než LILO (například není po každé instalaci nového jádra potřeba spouštět silo). Při rozdělování disku nechte 3. partition přes celý disk. Nainstalujte si balíček sparc-utils
, který obsahuje programy jako je prtconf, eeprom, audioctl nebo sparc32
. Pokud se rozhodnete použít debian testing, tak jsem narazil na problémy s X (zmrzla celá mašina) a s klávesnící (jádro 2.6 nějak nerozumělo mé Sun Type 5 klávesnici). U Debianu Sarge (stable) a jádra 2.4.27 nepozoruji žádné problémy. Zvukárna používá modul cs4231
, síťovka modul sunhme
, grafika (ATI Technologies, Inc. 3D Rage Pro 215GP) v X používá driver ati a myš (Xka i gpm v consoli) funguje přes zařízení /dev/sunmouse
.
V počítači mám v PCI přidaný jeden IDE řadič proti orig. sestavě kterou dodává SUN.
